Workshop Descriptions

Rev. Melvin Blanchette, SS, The Priest in Mid-Life

Tuesday, February 25, 1:15 – 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 – 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February 26, 10:45 – Noon and 2:00 – 3:15 p.m.

This workshop will underscore the understanding: human development is progressive and cumulative. At mid-life, the priest is invited to ponder the wisdom of Søren Aabye Kirkegaard that life is lived forward, but understood backwards. Accordingly, this workshop will review life’s unfinished business and unresolved challenges and offer new ways of integrating and evaluating the past more intentionally in order to welcome the future joyfully and fully.

Rev. Noah Casey, OSB, Transitional Periods in Priests’ Lives

Tuesday, February 25, 1:15 – 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 – 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February 26, 10:45 – Noon and 2:00 – 3:15 p.m.

The workshop will discuss the transitions in the priesthood as outlined by the U.S. Bishop’s The Basic Plan for the Ongoing Formation of Priests. We will focus on the nature of these transitions and see what facilitates those moments and how prayer can serve as an expression of the transitional nature of the Paschal Mystery lived through the priesthood.
