Rev. Melvin Blanchette, a priest of the Society of St. Sulpice, is currently the director of the Vatican II Institute of St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, California. Prior to this he served as director of the Center for Continuing Formation at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. He has also served as director of Formation and of Personnel Services for the Society. Prior to this experience, Blanchette chaired the pastoral-counseling department of Loyola University in Columbia, Maryland, where he coordinated the doctoral studies program. A licensed psychologist in Maryland and the District of Columbia, his career has centered on bridging the gap between theology, spirituality, and psychology with a view to aiding clergy and others to integrate their lives and ministries more effectively. He is co-editor of Pastoral Counseling, Clinical Supervision, Grace under Pressure, and numerous other articles dealing with a variety of topics.

Father Noah Casey, OSB, is a Benedictine monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Presently, he is engaged in a nation wide ministry to priests as an outreach of St. Meinrad Archabbey. He entered the Novitiate of St. Meinrad Archabbey in 1971, professed Solemn Vows in 1975 and was ordained to the Priesthood in 1976. For eighteen years, Father Noah worked in the Spiritual Formation Program of St. Meinrad College, fourteen of which were spent as the Director of the Program. He also taught a variety of courses in theology, spirituality and liturgy. His formal education includes a Master of Divinity degree from St. Meinrad School of Theology, a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Indiana University and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Spiritual Direction from the Weston School of Theology, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He likes walking, swimming, music and plays Euchre with a vengeance!

Dr. Christa R. Klein is the Dean of the Center for Continuing Formation (since 1996) and holds the position of the Associate Professor of Church History (since 1999) at St. Mary’s Seminary & University, Baltimore, Maryland. She teaches courses on American Catholic History and Pastoral Ministry in an Ecumenical and Interfaith Environment. In 2001 she became a Consultor to the NOCERCC Board of Directors. She also serves in the capacity of Project Advisor to the National Federation of Priests’ Councils’ Studies by Dean Hoge on the Recently Ordained and Trends in the Attitudes of Priests. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania with the specialization in American Church History. Married to Rev. Leonard R. Klein, senior pastor at Christ Lutheran Church, York, Pennsylvania. She is the mother of two daughters: Maria Elizabeth and Renate Ruth Gabriella.

Rev. James P. Oberle, SS, received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He later spent several years in Rome gaining an STL from the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality. He lectured at the University of Maryland, Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary/University and Saint Mary’s College in Rome, Italy. He currently holds the position of the Director of Programs for the Continuing Formation of Priests at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. Oberle also serves on the Executive Boards of the American Society on Aging’s Forum on Religion, Spirituality and Aging, and National Catholic Committee on Scouting. He too serves on the Editorial Board for the National Interfaith Coalition on Aging. His recent publications include: Forgiveness: Is it Possible? (Aging and Spirituality, 2002), Aging and the Meaning of Time (Springer Publications, 2001), Aging and the Rhythm of Time (Aging and Spirituality, 1999).
