Pre-Convention Seminar

Intentional Presbyterates: Making It Happen

                                                           Rev. J. Ronald Knott

February 20, 2:00- 4:00 pm

The Basic Plan for the Ongoing Formation of Priests ends with the important Vatican II observation that priests are not priests one by one, but serve the mission of the church in a presbyterate with the bishop.  The Basic Plan notes that this corporate sense of priestly identity is yet to be fully developed even in official documents but is clearly emerging as an important direction for the future.

Beginning with this observation, Father Ronald Knott wrote his book Intentional Presbyterates: Claiming Our Common Sense of Purpose as Diocesan Priests.  In this seminar, he will present an overview of his book and how it is being used around the country as a discussion starter on presbyteral unity, as well as offer some insights on changes that priests could make to unleash the power of the presbyterate as a team.
